Snowy Greetings —

Snowy greetings from Illinois! We have our first official snow day today. I'm trying to get in a little bit of work while EVERYONE's home. Not an easy feat!

I know there's a lot of doom and gloom in the news, but I believe 2009 can still be YOUR Best Year Ever, and I'm committed to helping you make that happen! How will I do that?

Well, for starters, I'd like to adopt you as my client for the rest of the year. Talk with any of my clients and you'll hear that the REAL work comes between the calls when they work on their homework. So, I have some homework for you below. :-) Take a look at the article, So, what's next? below and actually go through the exercise of wrapping up 2008 and planning for 2009. I've personally done this (and more) and am more excited about the coming year than I've ever been before!!

So, what's next?

I love December! I enjoy the Christmas holiday and spending time with family and friends, and it’s when I take stock of where I’m at and where I’m headed next. It’s easy to fall into “holiday mode” when things slow down, but December is the perfect time to work ON your business (or career) and not just in it! I actually started assessing my business in November and have already spent 8 hour in a strategy planning session with MY coach!

What does all this mean for you? I’d like to adopt YOU as my client for the remainder of the year. I'm committed to helping my client's achieve their goals and create the strategic plans they need to get there. So, I'd like to help you wrap up 2008 and prepare for 2009. If you're ready to do that, then I challenge you to take time to answer the following questions:

Assess where you are - Review & update the goals you created in 2008:

• Where are you at relative to your goals?
• What was your total revenue?
• What were your total expenses?
• How many new clients did you get?
• What’s worked?
• What hasn’t worked?
• What have you learned?
• What new skills did you add to your tool kit/resume?
• How many people are on your distribution list?
• If you have a website, how effective has it been? How many visitors? How many converted to sales? Is that number increasing each month?

Acknowledge & Celebrate what you achieved – Even if you didn’t hit every goal to the letter or dollar, it’s important to celebrate the successes!

• Write down 25 accomplishments for the year
• What are you MOST proud of?
• How will you celebrate?

Create your business/career goals for next year – Get a strong vision for where you want to be and then the specifics of what you’ll do to get there.

• How much revenue do you want to make? How much time and effort are you willing to put in to achieve that?
• What additional expenses do you anticipate in 2009?
• Will there be any recurring expenses to add to your budget (memberships, professional services, etc.)
• How many customers would you like to have?
• How many new people do you want to add to your mailing list?
• What tactics worked this year that you will continue using in 2009?
• What new strategies and tactics and will you put into action in 2009?
• What new products/services do you want to offer to your existing clients, or a new market of client?
• What training/resources will you need to make it all happen?

Lastly, write a new version of your business and marketing plans for 2009, adding to them all of the information above. Remember, even if you’re a professional working for a company, you still need to be marketing YOURSELF!
